Memory verse: “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” 1 JOHN 4:7, 8
1. 1 John 4:8 Tells us what God is. “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for __________ is _________.” We serve a God of love.
2. So great was His love for this world that He gave His only begotten son to come down and die for us. This is how great God’s love for man is. John 3:16, 17. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that ___________ _____________ in him should ________ _________, but have ____________ life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world ___________ ___________ might be ____________.”
“By His life and His death, Christ has achieved even more than recovery from the ruin wrought through sin. It was Satan's purpose to bring about an eternal separation between God and man; but in Christ we become more closely united to God than if we had never fallen. In taking our nature, the Saviour has bound Himself to humanity by a tie that is never to be broken. Through the eternal ages He is linked with us.” Desire of Ages 25
“Love, the basis of creation and of redemption, is the basis of true education. This is made plain in the law that God has given as the guide of life. The first and great commandment is, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind." Luke 10:27. To love Him, the infinite, the omniscient One, with the whole strength, and mind, and heart, means the highest development of every power. It means that in the whole being - the body, the mind, as well as the soul--the image of God is to be restored.” Education 16
3. How did David speak of God’s love toward us? Psalms 86:15 “But thou, O Lord, art a God full of ___________, and ____________, ________________, and ___________ in mercy and truth.”
4. What kind of love does Jeremiah say God has for us? Jeremiah 31:3 “The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an _____________ ____________: therefore with _______________ have I drawn thee.
5. When we repent, we are forgiven; but, we are not deserving of His love, but, He gives us His mercy. Micah 7:18, 19. “Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he __________ in ____________. 19He will turn again, he will have _____________ upon _______; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt __________ __________ their ___________ into the depths of the sea.”
6. In the New Testament Jesus makes the law simple. We are told to love God how much? Matthew 22:37 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt __________ the Lord thy ________ with all thy _________, and with all thy _________, and with all thy ___________.” He said (Note these are the words of Jesus) In Matthew 22:38 “This is the __________ and ____________ ________________.” You may remember in studying The Ten Commandments that the first four show our love To God.
|
These things come under the first and great commandment for they show our love to God by our obedience. Genesis 2:2, 3 Says God rested on The Seventh Day. God ended His work. He rested and blessed The Seventh Day. God associates The Sabbath with rest. Hebrews 4:3 – 11.
Verse 3 “For we which have ___________ do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter _________ my _________: although the ____________ were finished (CREATION) from the _______________ of the ____________.
4 For he spake in a certain place of the ____________ ______________ on this wise, And God did ____________ the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall _______ into ______ __________.
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8 For if _________ had __________ them _________, then would he not _____________ have spoken of _____________ day.
9 There __________ therefore a _______ to the _________ of ______.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ____________ from his ________ ___________, as God did from his.
11 Let us ___________ therefore to _______ ___________ that ________, _________ any man __________ after the same example of ___________.”
7. Then he said that the second commandment is like unto the first. It also is based on love. Matthew 23:39 “And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt __________ thy __________ as ___________.” Just how much do we love ourselves? Upon these two commandments, hang all the Law. The second commandment, takes in our love for our fellowman.
“The first four of the Ten Commandments are summed up in the one great precept, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart." The last six are included in the other, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." Both these commandments are an expression of the principle of love. The first cannot be kept and the second broken, nor can the second be kept while the first is broken. When God has His rightful place on the throne of the heart, the right place will be given to our neighbor. We shall love him as ourselves. And only as we love God supremely is it possible to love our neighbor impartially.” DESIRE OF AGES 607

Upon these two commandments, hang all The Law.
Just how much do we love ourselves???????????? !
These two commandments hang what? Matthew 23:40. “On these two commandments hang ________ the _______ and the _____________.”
Note: All these words are in red letters. They are the words of Christ. Jesus was pointing back to His law. We keep the law to show our love for God and our love for our fellowman. We see the commandments were still the same law of God in the New Testament.
8. How strong should be our love for our fellowman? We would not disobey our parents; we would not kill our brother. We would not tell lies on them, we would not commit adultery, nor should we covet or desire our neighbors goods or spouse. 1 John 3:16 “Hereby perceive we the ________ of _________, because he __________ ____________ his life for _______: and ________ ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”
We know that all people on this earth came from the same family of Adam and Eve, our first parents in
It appears that at this time God gave many languages. The people who left in different groups and went to different areas (Countries), as we know them today different nations speaking, different tongues.
At the time God changed the language there may have been some change in the people. These were the one’s who had turned from God. Shem and his descendants were the Ones who followed God.
9. How can we all be children of God? Galatians 3:26. “For ye are all the children of God by _________ in ________ ___________.” God does not look at the color of the skin or the color of our hair. He looks at our heart and if we find faith in Jesus, He claims us as His sons or daughters.
